I "finished" my WM chop nose GP7. Adding parts to a diesel was a welcome change after then seemingly endless tinkering on the WM Potomac. I say "finished' because I plan on adding a LokSound 71300 and speaker when funds become available. I'm holding off on the number boards until that's done. Once the decoder and speaker are in, I will permanently attach the cab and hood to the sill. Hopefully that will eliminate the slight warp on the fireman's side of the cab.

Tom D.

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.

Tower is nearly complete. Waiting on those glass blocks, still. After that, I need to weather bricks and touch up some corners.
I need to figure out how to improve the roof shingles. Currently, it's paper and I am not crazy about the pattern.

Overall, a huge improvement, as long as you don't look around the back!

Also, my track came today.

Nice job with the chop nose GP.

Here is something I've wanted since first reading about the V&O, made possible with K4 decals.  I like the decals.  Between Tichey Trains and K4, these are the good old days for N scale decal availability.  To get the bolster gusset / truck frame height relationship right I chucked the MT underframe and made my own from styrene sheet, weighted with 3/8" nuts.  Despite the well documented shortcomings of the MT 40' box car shell, when I fix the height issue and weather a well decorated car it fits right into the fleet.  Just my opinion mind you.   ;)

I also found a couple of decorated but frameless castings representing the leased single sheathed double door box cars in my To Do box.  I made two frames and weathered them this week.

Wow great work posted already this week!

I haven't posted in quite a while - kids at home, work projects, blah, blah, blah.  Lots of stuff eating into hobby time.

My focus remains structures.  Completed were...

...an elevated oil tank for Nelson

...and a RIP shed also for Nelson.

I did, however, mess around with Hedge Cam (some more)

And for anyone interested, the C&W will be one of two layouts in this Sunday's Operations SIG's Second Section - Virtual Meetup.  It is a Zoom mtg starting at 7 PM EDT/4 PM PDT.  It won't be a layout tour as I have been asked to focus on operations "stuff of interest" so I will be chatting about the yard job aids and the TT&TO implementation.  There will be Q&A at the end.  You don't need to be a SIG member.  Here are the pertinent details from the host, Eric Smith, should you wish to join.

Scheduled Presenters:
•   Richard Sieben - Richard is from Island Lake, Illinois and he's modeling the Illinois Northern, which also includes the Chicago Junction and Belt Railway of Chicago. You can see more about his layout here: https://www.operatingsessions.com/Layouts/Sieben
•   Moi from Vancouver, BC, Canada  You can see all the C&W videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwSBKwDynjb0ZyfZHSlTcDg

Hope to see you there!

Any chance you could show the scratch built underframes?  Those cars look great.

Hiya, folks.
I'm still an N-scaler, but I'm having a lotta fun working on my HO Docksider project (see my post in the Crew Lounge :D). Here's the latest pic checking the placement of details on the pilot. Scratched brass footboards, handrail, uncoupling-lever, and a Cal-Scale coupler.

Thanks for looking. Jim Maurer in Tokushima, Japan

Put a modest effort into some scenery tonight.  Vollmerized an Atlas stone arch bridge.

Applied a base layer of static grass to most of Fort St John yard this week.   It will be greened up with some additional layering but I am quite happy with the dry late summer look so far.  I used a 2 to 1 mix of Woodland Scenics Wild Honey and Burnt Grass 2mm static flock fibers, followed by a light layer of 2mm light green

For that header picture, I liked the first line of the article:
"In a dilapidated, poverty-stricken country where some railway rolling stock is more than 40 years old,..."

I don't know about England, but there's stuff in revenue service in the US older than that, with age-limit waivers.  There are a lot of locomotives older than that still running!
