Mrc power pack

I run Dc and the direction slide switch has come unglued and slipped inside the case.  Anyone know what type of screw these packs take  Tks Kirk

You didn't mention whic model (MRC makes multiple models), but they probably all use same screws. Mine is T10 (Torx, or "star") screw.  You can often get an Allen wrench, or flat-head screwdriver with narrow enough blade to fit those screws.

That's why I stated "probably".  What screw heads does yours have?
I didn't mention a model number of mine because I rubbed it off when I used the case for a TAT V throttle.

My MRC Tech 7 has "tamper-proof" screws holding the bottom of the case.  I have a set of security screw bits, and the one marked "CR-V10" seems to fit well enough to drive those screws.

That bit is basically a flat blade with a gap cut into it.  Mine measures 0.244" wide by 0.040" thick (at the tip, but it is tapered), with a 0.120" wide gap cut in the middle of the blade.

Unfortunately, those screws are in deep recesses in the case, so, a typical short hex shank bit will not reach into the hole far enough and the hole will not  accommodate an extension because the coupler is to big in diameter.  So, if yours are like mine, you will need either a long hex shank version of that security bit or to make one yourself.  You can do that with a regular screw driver with the appropriate blade width and thickness and a small file to make the gap.  Which makes me wonder why anybody would make a "security" screw head like that to begin with.  Those Phillips-like heads with the off-set slots are a lot harder to make a cheater for.

The Tech II's & III's (and IV's, I believe) take a security Torx driver which is a Torx with the center hollow to accept a stud sticking up in the middle of the screw. I bought a driver but, before that, I used a drill bit that fit into the screw and it broke the stud off so a regular Torx works. I didn't like doing that, however. Hence, the special driver.

Yes, the Tech 7's take a flat blade with a notch cut into the center.

The Tech I's (500/501N's) take strictly flat blades or hex driver. The good old days.

And notice, it says made in Japan on it. It's not an MRC-made pack.

I have that large set. Those won't work (at least in mine) for the reasons Maletrain mentioned in his post. Screws are too deeply recessed, and the tool's shank is too short.

Oops. hehe, you caught me. I guess MRC could have engineered the thing, made there, and had it sold to all those other importers but somehow, I don't think that's what happened back then. The China thing happened later with almost all American manufacturers going there, much to our present day chagrin.
