Cellphone upside down so that the camera is directly above the rail top. Then yes multiple photos at multiple depths and focus-stacking after.

The track is handlayed also, which adds to it.

Anyone know of an image stacking app for iphone?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Ditto.  Every one I've seen recently seems to focus on android.

I just export the cellphone photos to the laptop. I have an iPhone8 and 10. I got the 10 on the cheap and use it exclusively for photography and hi-rez video. For photos I position the camera, usually landscape, so the lens is about 1/4” above the rail top, which is roughly 4 scale feet so it works out well.  But portrait works well in tight spaces, as there are enough megapixels to allow cropping to a landscape frame and still have good resolution.

@bbussey so if I understand correctly, you just take the same picture multiple times but you adjust the focus to bring each aspect into detail? I have been using my iPhone to take pictures and the focus has frustrated me a ton! It never occurred to me to stack various resolutions into a clearer photo.

Yes, this is a common technique to increase depth of field. Do a forum search for "focus stacking" and "Helicon Focus".  There are few older threads about these.  I have been using Helicon Focus for over 10 years.

Trevor,

You can force the iPhone to focus where you want by touching and holding your finger on a spot on the screen to lock the focus and aperture.  Just keep locking on objects in view at various depths.  I usually focus on objects 1/2 to 1 inches apart.  This results in 20 to 30 photos, or more.  But it insures you will have every object in focus

I have several Big Blue engines, but my favorites are my one Scaletrains C39-8 and two Atlas B40-8s. I converted one of the B-boats to LokSound. The below video was taken at this year's Bay State Model Railroad Museum open house with the C-boat and DCC B-boat on the point of a Tank-Train (skip to 6:32 for a brief shot).

I weathered that same B-boat, here's a picture of it next to my other, almost stock B40-8.
