Looking at the photo, I don't find the rivets distracting in the least and I'm pretty particular. Much smaller and I suspect they wouldn't even be visible under normal viewing. I personally would rather have the detail as it is over nothing visible at all. Now, has anyone actually counted the rivets?

Absolutely the board spacing!  I can easily remove/redo the rivets. Fixing the board spacing (especially on a pre-decorated reefer car) is pretty much impossible. 

And yes, I counted (some of) the rivets. 

I am well aware of the fact that not everybody will find those rivets objectionable, but looking at the photo of the model, I do.  SOmetimes less is more.

I just ordered 3 of those from Walter, so I can judge things in-person.
