Did some railfanning in Fridley the weekend before Christmas:

The BN engineer gave us a good 'toot toot' on the horn, through a residential restricted quiet zone no less! CN played the bells. Popped over to Westminster Junction in Saint Paul afterwards and immediately saw a CP freight who gave us a long horn too, couldn't snap a good photo off tho. The small, passing connections we make with the people who operate these machines is what makes this all worthwhile. Good times!  :)

Got to tour the UTA Frontrunner maintenance facility last night. One of the locos blew a turbo Tuesday night during rush hour stranding passengers in an inaccessible area for about an hour.

Some shots of SOO 4410 leading CP's Havelock Sub (Toronto to Havelock branch) freight T07. I'm told there's only seven white SOO are left, but only three are running... those OOS are 38-2's awaiting rebuild. First time a SOO has lead on this line as far as anyone knows. Trailing is former D&H 7307 and CP 3108 and 22 loads from Unimin in Blue Mountain, Ontario.

1) East of side Peterborough.
2) Crossing the Otonabee River in Peterborough (Quaker Oats attractive plant in background).
3) West side of Peterborough.
4) Passing the restored grain elevator in Pontypool.
5) Passing farm west of Pontypool.
