the 315mm curves that a kato starter set come with are only 12.4" radius. You wouldn't be able to run this caboose on it.

Even the BLI T1 can handle 9.75" radius. There's no reason for a caboose to need 50% more turning radius.

You're right, there's no reason.  It's an error on the announcement PDF.  The listings on the website do not state a minimum radius.

15" is the smallest radius you'll find in HO Atlas sectional track.
