Oh, also, this thread convinced me to dust off my old GMR article, reach out to Hal Miller and ask if we can get enough photos that work from the stuff I shot before the layout came down.

If you read the article, the modeler is a retired secret service guy and he was describing the operations of a presidential campaign train.  His layout is set in New York State, hence the NYC car, and the bicentennial unit was added to the special.

That's the point, I didnt read the article, because I didnt really open the magazine because my mind focused on the 'classic toy trains' nature of the cover photo...

On the flip side, remember the issue about focus stacking and featured a head on shot of an Erie train across a 10' section of layout.. The article was in both RMC and N scale I think.. Cant remember where I saw it first..

I saw that picture.. 'damn that's cool'.. HOLY CRAP THAT IS N SCALE!!!!...
