There could be an element of Bachmann MSRP... But I think more so general modelers purchasing cars with robust details.. and the price 'is what it is'... (when everyone else is charging the same peice.. why not follow course..)

The modelers who care about the finer details will buy the old MDC cars, strip / repaint them and add the GMM detail set.  Or buy the more detailed models...

I.e. We aren't thier target market with these cars....

I know those JB Hunts are foobies, but they have to be as close as anything thus far to represent the ubiquitous JBH containers from the mid 90's on, no?  ( @James Costello maybe you can clarify?  I've been out of the loop with N and seemingly forgotten most of what I once knew about Intermodal.)   The good news about being in Z is I can do platewall 48/53's out of cardstock/heavy paper and they really don't look too bad.

Hi Doug @Rivet Miscounter - yes, until someone makes a plate-wall container (Monon, Pines, Wabash National), these are going to be as close as we're probably going to get with a stand-in for those 90s era fleets, especially with the smooth nose. In the spirit of JRT, I can see myself making use of these too.

FVM has also tooled and shown a Stoughton X-Post, but it's a bit tricky to tell (from the photos I've seen) if it's the same version, or the later style with an X-Post nose and 1 less side post.

I still have hope we will see a Hunt specific plate-wall container in N soon. It would go very well with FVM's planned later-era Hunt specific Duraplate container and is very much needed for those ATSF / BNSF / Conrail 90s hotshots.

Here's a good look at some late 90s JB Hunt 53 footers, not all the same.

Maybe James can tell us what each of those are.

Sorry you're right I do remember that.  I'll see if I can hunt it down.  I know i printed the discussion to PDF so surely I can backtrack from there.

I really wish someone would do more 48' X post containers. I would love to buy EMP in bulk if available. The MTL models are really nice, but I think they could do a 5 or 10 pack without jewel cases to keep costs down.

Athearn has been cranking out the tank car for several years. I don't really have an issue with this, but wish they would update the tooling. If they did, they would need to replace all the free standing details. Would there be anything left of the old tooling except the cylinder?
