Count me in for one M636. I picked up an Atlas C-628 today in anticipation of these being produced.
The fabric of reality has begun to fray.

Hello,

(7). I am unclear as to how the Hi Ad sideframes will go on a C628/630 truck chassis when the wheel centers are not correct. Is there a truck conversion kit contemplated like that for the Dofasco?

Larry N

Hi Guys

In order to have the correct wheel spacing the kits include two 3d printed gearboxes which the Atlas gears clip into and 4 highly detailed sideframes, which use the original Atlas pickups and glue to the gearboxes. Instructions are included in this kit.

This is the Defasco truck conversion.

Hope this gives everyone and idea of what the finished HiAD product will look like.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi guys

Please make sure you email me so I have your contact information (at least your email). It is difficult to send updates out as PMs to a whole lot of people.

chrisd@briggsmanufacturingassociates.com

We doing this as a limited run so kits will only be made for those that I have contact information for, with a very limited supply as extras.

Kind regards,
Chris

Are the Dofasco trucks available as separate kits?

Hi Doug

Yes they are. The part number on the website is NM2 $40ea.

Hope things are going well. Make sure you and Kathy stop in when you are through PG this summer.

Should mention that the latest version of the Dofasco trucks have new contact strips inside the wheels which eliminates the intermittent contact problem.  My first unit with these new trucks runs very well:

Hello,

The new truck frame to work with the Hi Adhesion trucks is a great idea. Because you plan on having them socket into the Atlas C628/C630 chassis though, the center axle cannot be centered over the pivot point. The chassis measures 43 feet (via N scale ruler by me) between the pivoting centers, but the actual C636 has a center to center axle distance of 41 feet 10 inches (Source: Win Cuisiniers drawings in RMC, Jan. 1985). It does not seem like much, but it might cause the pivoting trucks to hit the fuel tanks or steps. If the new truck chassis can be made so the center axle is slightly inward, it will make it agree with the prototype. Hopefully that is the plan.

Any notion when the RS27s will be released?

Jeff is working on them right now. I wouldn't think it will be too much longer.

We had some issues with our brand new printer and fell a little behind on some work. This should be fixed up by the end of the weekend.

Hope this helps,

Chris
