GHQ vehicles questions

Hi,
  Just got 6 of the GHQ vehicle models Pete was selling. Never had any before. Does the pewter need any prep (besides washing),
 before painting? They come with no instructions, as one is a kit. Don't know what all parts are? The '36 Buick, 57-001.
 Looks like a painting nightmare, though.

I have built some of their construction vehicles which came with instructions.  I did not undertake any prep prior to painting other than a good primer coat.

I usually dip the parts in acetone, but I'm pretty sure the parts are quite clean when they come out of the mold. I usually assemble the kits using CA glue and accelerator (and possibly 5-minute epoxy for some joints where longer setting time is needed).

Aren't the '30s vehicles single-piece castings with solid metal windows (thus yes, a bit challenging to paint)?

I'd say the biggest prep I perform is to remove the mold parting lines which are pretty prominent in many of their kits.
If you plan to put a nice thin coat of paint on them, these will be noticeable.

I've fashioned a small chisel by grinding away most of the outer edges at the end of a #17 X-acto blade and chisel or scrape most of it off, finishing it off with some fine steel wool.
