I took some time this weekend to lay out some cork for West Cressona. It's not glued down yet because I wanted to "see it" to make sure I can life with the radii.

I can live with this, so it's time to get out the liquid nails.

I'm guessing I'm the only one who noticed the blue tape on the MacBook? I'm funny that way...

Looks great Ed, after a deviation into some other roads (and scales) I'm back to Conrail in N scale in NJ. Will be looking forward to your progress.

Is that where the recording device is located?

Haha, kinda, actually. It's where the input for a microphone is. Whenever I was plugging in the line out for the stereo I was always putting it in the wrong hole. Some blue tape solved the problem quickly and cheaply.

As for the recording device. I figured if people wanted to watch me run trains naked, more power to em. I've got nothing to hide.

Yeah there's an operational issue of dealing with a curved yard, but I gotta say in the "simulated" yard, loaded with hoppers– the look is really cool.

Thanks! I think it'll work just fine. And if not, it'll only be a problem for a little while until I move onto the next project.

A few more of the east end of West Cressona. Which I guess would just make this, Cressona?

You can see why that inner track isn't such a big deal: it's really just the escape track from that disused "whatever" track.

This might be my favorite part of building a layout.  The blank slate and hopes/dreams.  :)

I forgot to mention: my biggest concern right now is the length of that scale track. It feels too short. Thoughts?

@Ed Kapuscinski,

How flat is the foam subroadbed and the seams between the sheets of foam on your layout?  I ask, because your photos reminded me of your suggestion to purchase one of those four-foot straightedges that I see in the picture.  What a great suggestion, because, boy, have I gotten use of it!  The 2" thick foam that I purchased was not flat- not even close.  Hopefully your 1" foam is better.  That four-foot straightedge was a godsend for finding the high and low spots and flattening the area before applying cork roadbed.  I even used it to check and sand the cork roadbed, too.  Might be one of the most important hobby tools that I have now.

Thanks,
DFF

It wasn't great before, but I've actually shimmed it a bit to fix that.
However, that is the EXACT reason I'm using cork here. It's so that once it's down I can sand it all flat and have a nice solid  roadbed that's way better than the ACTUAL one would've been.

Did the prototype scale require a gantlet track arrangement to allow the loco to bypass it?
