The 4-car set with ice A/C in tuscan red w/gold lettering/stripes and the two unlettered cars are either sold out or have yet to arrive at TW.

The 4-car set with ice A/C in tuscan red w/gold lettering/stripes is what I ordered, and is on its way here, so they may have received only enough of that set to fill reservations.  I may be mistaken, but I believe that TW doesn't always stock undecs.

Holy mackerel the lights in them are bright! Has anyone tried taking one part yet to see if they can be dimmed? I'm risk averse like that...

On the (less bright but ironically) brighter side, my T1 is able to pull the 14 car Broadway Limited and another 4 of these without trouble.

My LHS's owner is kinda confused that the addon packs of P70s came in like yesterday while the 4 cars are nowhere to be seen.

I don't think my LHS has any singles, just the 4 packs!

Can someone give us a refresher on what approximate eras these different varieties cover? (no a/c, ice a/c, mech a/c; buff vs gold lettering, etc.) Thanks!

My 4-car set arrived Friday. Initial impression was good - the car body, paint, etc. is great. They're beautiful cars, really.

Then I put them on the track...

The lighting is ridiculously bright - so much so that it bleeds through the car sides. Think "dime store toy." There's also about 7-scale-feet between cars when coupled together, which again, is ridiculous. Bear in mind, the MSRP on these cars is $60/each. At that price point, I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation for these things to be "right" out of the box, and not require immediate modification / correction. I've already worked out how to body-mount 1016's on one car to correct the distance issue, but I'm kicking myself for doing so. I wish I had sent them back on principle.

Ouch that gap looks like double of Atlas's trainman lightweights and those MSRP at half the price.

Or, "I'm blind!!!" Maybe they could adapt the sound decoder from their cattle car for this...

Nah. You’re just supposed to know you are in the “paragon” of N scale models and use that to help you jump the seven or so feet to the next car. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t put a hokey sound decoder in them, either. The Bachmann cars are looking pretty good right about now, me thinks.

I'm sure the lights can be dimmed and the coupling made closer, but again, how can a manufacturer produce a brand new model in 2019 and not consider those things in the design phase?

They need someone like me, or some other TRW  :ashat: as consultants in during the design stage, to give them our honest evaluation (so they can fix the shortcomings before production begins).
