N scale Dash 8 deadline next week

Hi all,

The N scale Draper Taper Dash 8-40CM order deadline is next week. Technically it's Monday, but we'll take orders throughout the week and probably into the following week. The factory is closed right now for Nation Day and we're waiting for a new sample that has brighter ditch lights before we can start production.

A big thank you to RW member Tim Benson who worked with our team to make a (metric) tonne of artwork corrections.

Here's the web site:

Best regards,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the acknowledgement — I was glad to help out.

It's always refreshing to have a manufacturer who takes on board constructive feedback, and goes the extra mile to ensure paint schemes are as accurate as possible for given road numbers and time periods.

I'm really looking forward to these Draper Tapers. They made it across Tehachapi as run-through power in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and it's a great excuse for some Canadian variety amongst my hoards of SD40-2s and Dash 9s :)

I hope that these are a success for Rapido and that we can see more Canadian full cowl units in N scale the future (SD40F, SD50F… hint hint).

Cheers

Tim Benson

What Tim said.

I am guessing these were not used by Canadian Pacific or you would be offering them in that road name too?

You are correct... CP had a draper taper version of the sd40-2

I have a vague recollection of a Draper Taper in one of BC Rail schemes doing some switchin in Baton Rouge in the early oughts after the CN Buy out of IC. Haven’t found my photos yet however. Anyone got any ideas on which power assignment it might have been? They also got a GTW GP40-2 I do have photos of
