Another vote for RS-27, w/dynamic brakes. As projects go that should be fairly easy, a drop-fit on an Atlas RS-11 chassis.

GP30B on my radar as well. The Hallmark brass 'Bs I have are nice to look at but run poorly.

RS-27
Why,,,because,,,why not??. I could have the SOO LINE'S loco that was a main stay in the twin cities
Y-it

This!

I would personally buy at least 5 RS27 shells...

Edit: Soo, Minnesota Commercial (ex GBW) and PNC (ex PC) would be the versions I'd most want...

For a small production prototype many seemed to gravitate towards the upper Midwest...

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

SDP45 would be great. Southern Pacific had them in multiple paint schemes (Kodachrome, speed lettered and standard lettering). I believe EL had them too...maybe others. I believe a Kato SD70MAC mechanism with the SD45 trucks would be a good fit (info from a fellow modeler )

BN's MK built GP28M/Ps

On the B30-7As, are we talking the cabless ones BN had? If so, I'd be in for 3 or 4

GN/BN had them too. But theirs had steam generators like the original to SP units.

The EL/CR ones that SP got that were rebuilt to SD40-2Ms are like the ones pictured.

SP and Santa Fe had the GP40X. I believe some made it to UP paint.
Just found a CP rebuild from one too!

I've seen a UP repaint of this running around salt lake on some local jobs. It took me while to figure out what it was

And one more, which I can see more people wanting,

Chopped GP and SD7/9 noses

For the life of me, I cannot seem to get a straight cut when chopping an Atlas nose. And while on this, maybe a new cab, being the Atlas SD26 cabs are getting hard to find

Yes, looks like at least one made it into UP paint.

One even made it to the Indiana Harbor Belt.

If you make the GP40P-2, I would get two... one in speed lettering and one standard block.

The very unique scheme is the bicentennial

 :?

UP was one of the original buyers, with six. They had the HT-B trucks. 9000-9005, renumbered 90-95 in '85 and then renumbered several more times until retired (probably scrapped) in 2001.

Good additional info. I care mostly about the SP and was going from memory. Did any GP40X make it to other railroads or other paint schemes?
