Does NC actually ban removing it from the state, or just reusing it within the state?

As I recall, someone got caught shipping it off somewhere to be used for making cinder blocks and had to pay a fine; I'm not sure if that was due to the use or the getting shipped out of state.

I remember testing some environmental radiation personnel monitoring devices (long ago) and accidentally finding that the main source of the radiation dose came from the guys hanging their work clothes in their lockers next to cinderblock walls while they were not in them.  "Cinders" have a lot of "stuff" that we really don't want to be around.

Great video shows lots of old photos and the runaway that was built. On Google maps I switched to "terrain" and found the second runaway that was closed early on.

I saw that video from Delay In Block Productions. It's a very nice documentary on the Saluda grade.
They also show a portion of the Southern / NS Saluda training video in the DIB documentary.
