Got to see the iconic Cumberland Valley System of Bill & Wayne Reid at the Chicago NSE convention

I never get tired of looking at this layout, it’s amazing how well the little things are done.

Looked good until I seen the sparkling.  My company is pushing the hell out of our sparkling lineup.  Personally I think it sucks.  Over-carbonated and almost zero flavor.  But it smells awesome when you crack the lid open.

Bill and Wayne Reid were awarded the N Scale Pioneer Award at the Banquet at the National N Scale Convention for their amazing artistry and innovation on their layout. Their work inspired a lot of people showing what can be done in N Scale. Heck, in any scale!

Thanks to the Reids for letting all of conventioneers come and drool on their work.

I have been following the Reid's iconic Cumberland Valley for more than 20 years, and have use it as a blueprint in developing my own layout.    I have copies of the Model Railroader magazine and Rail Model journals that featured articles on the CV, as well as as Allan Keller's video on the layout, but does anyone here have updated or more recent online links to either videos or photos, or private photos, of the CV that they would be willing to share ?

For the Reid Bros CV layout, the last story in print that appeared, maybe a decade ago, said they were planning to finish some areas that at publication time were not scenicked (is that a word?).  Were they able to make that happen?

Yes, they have finished the unsceniced areas but we all know a layout is never really finished.

Yes, I noticed the faucet in the kitchen of the diner on Main Street was dripping and needs a new washer installed.  And after that, the tenants of Apt 3C in the apartment building would like new wallpaper- it has been over 20 years, after all....

Got the F7 a little closer to finished.  After sending back the loksound decoder, it came back blank, so a nice guy in the local area programmed it for me.

I think you have big thumbs like me. The F I believe should be an E. What brand is that unit.

Painted the attached mine truck that I got on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/N-scale-Meg...72.m2749.l2649 It doesn't appear to model any particular truck, Cat 777 is probably the closest. It is also a lot cruder than the better Shapeways models (refer to the loader), with some voids, lamina edges clearly visible and even some delamination. But... at $15 it is a lot cheaper than similar Shapeways models which go for $50 to $120 so I love it.  Next is some serious weathering.

Kinda looks like one I got, but it came with decals for the 777F
