Cheap Kato Unitrack Plugs... close but no cigar

You could warm up the Kato nylon with a heat gun on the side that interferes with the new plug and insert the new connector till the Kato part cools.

Have your tried that and does it work?  I don't think it will as the amount of extra material you have doesn't get removed. I can since in the inside round opening being deformed as the outside conforms to a round shape.

And if you get the connector to a temperature that will allow deformation, I'm sure the other area of the plug will start to go too as you connect the two together.

Yes, 99% joking, but... I actually did end up in an ER once after a slip with an X-Acto. "Only" five stitches, but it sure was messy. 

Number 1 learning on X-acto knives --- Never try to catch a falling knife.
Number 2 learning on X-acto knives --- Always ware shoes.

The keyword here is "knife".  Ig can do as much damage as a standard (cold) knife, or even more so, because it will burn too.  I guess on the positive side is that if you slice yourself with the hot knife, it will automatically cauterize the wound.
