Verde Canyon Railroad is next in July.
My nephew and his dad did this last November. They had a blast.

Don't know  .. haven't done that one yet.
it's outside of Payson,  1600 feet of elevation change in 4 miles....1 mile is very steep

Sounds and looks like a great trip!  Thanks for sharing.  My wife and I visited the GC in September.  We stopped in Williams and looked around and checked out the trains.  We would definitely go back and consider taking the train.

Scott: Not a bad excursion, they are real train freaks which is great, not like the train at Disneyland. :)
