Since Shane found a source of the male connectors for his adapter boards, maybe he will be willing to share the source with us?  Or if that is a secret, maybe he will be willing to sell few of those connectors to the interested Raiwire members? I'm sure it will be just a few.

I don't currently have any of either the male side or female side in stock here at my location, but I've got plenty in "limbo" with one of my bulk shippers. What kind of quantities are you looking for? I can arrange for some of these to get sent my way with my next shipment of goods if need be.

Thanks!  10 of each gender would make me happy for a long time.  I can pay with PayPal.

Found what I think is the male Next 18 plug

CT0519P-05-2x09P

https://www.conrad.com/p/degson-interface-connector-ct0519p-total-number-of-pins-18-contact-spacing-050-mm-ct0519p-05-2x09p-1-pcs-1327425?insert=CJ&WT.mc_id=affiliate_cj&utm_source=affiliate_cj&cjevent=350436004c0a11eb839007360a1c0e0c

But shipping is outrageous.
Can’t find it on Mouser or Digi-Key
Anyone have another supplier with reasonable shipping or an alternate manufacturer/part number?

They were at DigiKey the Panasonic P5KF series the last I checked but now I see they are EOL back in June 2020.  No replacements listed.   :?

https://www3.panasonic.biz/ac/e/control/connector/base-fpc/p5kf/index.jsp?c=search

Looking them over it seems that only the 18 pin versions have been EOLed

Or not... There are conflicting notices are posted at Digikey.  One announcing the discontinuation due to lack of demand and another saying they have rescinded the EOL due to customer requests.  However, the 18-position parts are not available at DigiKey.

EOL Notice: https://media.digikey.com/pdf/PCNs/Panasonic/PDN.PG01.05.18.2020-A%20P5KF%20Series.pdf

Mouser has 122 of the male (AXK6F18347YG plug) , but no female (AXK5F18547YG socket).

It looks like the 18 position is orderable but only in 2000 piece rolls.  At ≈$1320/roll.

Too bad American decoder and loco manufacturers do not use those connectors. If they did, those connectors would probably be better stocked by U.S. parts suppliers.  Or not, if the manufacturing was done in China . . .

Would you care to share the part number?  It would make ordering easier for others in the future.

The count is now 117 so I assume he bought 5.

Duh!  I totally glazed over your post for some reason!  Actually, I'm mainly looking for the female ones (so I can make my own wire adapter that is thinner than the ESU-made one.  I rather not try to remove the factory installed connector on the decoder to try to solder wires directly. But if I ruin a connector by making an adapter, it is much cheaper to replace than a decoder. And I'm sure ESU would not honor a warranty with the connector unsoldered, and ruined pads.  :scared:

Unfortunately it looks like nobody has stock of the female (socket/receptacle) versions.  Either Digikey or Mouser will order them but I'm pretty sure it's a 2000 unit minimum.  Neither of these are recommended for new designs because Panasonic has tried to EOL them once.  I sure hope ESU has a good supplier.  I did a search of both Mouser and Digikey and neither has any other connector like this one.  There was a Hirose Electric one that is similar but won't mate with the Panasonic.

Further looking at the Panasonic and Conrad data sheets for these makes me wonder if the they will mate as well.  I don't know who ESU's supplier was but if it was Conrad (being both German companies) then the Panasonic may not work.

@skent would you be willing to let us know who your supplier and/or mfg of the connectors you used on the WVD ESU Lokound 5 Micro board?

@reinhardtjh I have the female socket versions of this part in hand if you are interested in purchasing some, I had some extra sent from the factory along with the newest run of the adapters. There's actually no part number and there is just a description that it is 0.5mm pitch 2 row by 9 pin board to board connector. No male connectors though since the product does not have them and that would require extra shipping time and cost from overseas. PM me if you need some.
