Does anyone have any recommendations for TTX brown paint? It’s “boxcar red” but that’s such an nebulous term I’m hoping someone has something more specific.

Ooh, this is like the olive drab discussions the armor guys get into...

It kinda depends on if you're looking at a factory-fresh car, or an older more-weathered car.

I have used Badger/Modelflex shades of oxide red for my TTX flush-deck paint jobs --- Light Tuscan Oxide for new cars, Dark Tuscan Oxide for older cars.

Red oxide primer tends to be my go-to for this shade of thing, but it looks too red for this application. I may have some PRR Tuscan, I’ll see if that hasn’t dried up I’ll try that.

Since the PRR was a major influence on Trailer Train in the early years, I wouldn't be surprised if the color is PRR Tuscan.  If that's the case, Scalecoat might have a matching paint.  They've been around since the color was in use.
