It looks like maybe some kind of container or trailer, with the hinges allowing the entire end to open.  I've never seen a container like that with the rounded top.  Wish the pic covered more of the object in question and had a little more light on the lower parts.

The white contain container? It looks like it has a vent and a couple of external power point. The hinges could they be mounting points?  The spacing and shape would suggest hinges..

Can anyone provide some information or links to better photos of the USAF #15, on the UP flat that is on the track behind the locos, on the right side of this photo?

That definitely looks like the one.  Is the first post from around Hill AFB, Utah perhaps?
