As long as we've somehow ventured down this, er, track ... I'm also a Peco code 80 guy. 

Yeah, the code 55 stuff is much better looking. But it wasn't available when I started (one of the several droughts), so code 80 it was. And still is.

I'm also a sound proponent, although I agree that the volume usually needs to be ratcheted way down from the factory settings.

All this talk of Peco reminds me why I like to “roll my own” when it comes to switches. Their turnouts are hideous.

Thanks... Yes, I had found and read these two threads, but other than an ongoing discussion, I didn’t read much of a consensus on how well the CVT ties work compared to conventional hand laying of track.

Um, not sure if that makes a difference.   I click on the search button on the top row of buttons from any TRW section.  No matter what section you are in, clicking on the search button goes to the same URL:

It does make a difference.  For example, I just did a search for "GP40" on this page.  I got one hit.  I went back to the main page and did the same search.  Twenty-seven pages of posts.

Sometimes, people try to do a search on here and think there's no hits for whatever they're searching.  That may be because they didn't search from the main page.

However, I will agree that if they search the way you do, they're probably fine.  I think people often use the more obvious box at the top right of every page and not the search button that you use in the menu.

LOL, I didn't even pay attention ot the search feature on the upper rigth.    Never used it.  I'm sure it works just as you describe.

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!! I can just imagine a bunch of guys at a bar or restaurant talking like this and going all over the place on topics instead of sticking to the original one.
