Weird error
« on: January 16, 2019, 02:06:33 AM »
Trying to respond to a particular thread today, several times at different points during the day from two different computers (both Win 10, running latest Chrome on the same IP address) I have gotten this error screen after hitting post.

AFTer I see it, I can't get back to the post I just typed. Weird.

That's a failed url sure and true. That mishmash means something inside has lost it.
If you use an old bookmark* to this 'unique' site they will give same. And yes because the 'error page' has no precedent, it can't go 'back'.
*I've had to reinstall OS and all apps, incl bookmarks etc. over last 2 months and replacing them after the RW system was rebooted to new coding meant replacing all these 'feature threads' as well.
cheers dave

Actually,  the fuzzy (but somewhat readable) URL in Sirenwerks' screen capture looks unusual.  It has a long string of seemingly random characters. I don't think I have ever seen that in any TRW URL.

The "normal" URLs look similar to this (URL of me composing this post):
Code: [Select]
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?action=post;topic=46244.0;last_msg=602836No long string of random characters.

Yea, sorry about that screenshot quality, it seems to have lost something when I posted it to the TRW gallery.

TRW automatically downsizes uploaded images (IIRC to the width of 1280 pixels).

I've seen that error maybe once or twice in a year. Usually I just close the browser and relaunch it.

OK. So I closed the browser and tried a new computer, and every time I go back to this page - https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=46139.90 - to try to change the post I made where the typeface is super tiny (another recurring problem I seem to encounter regularly) I run into the same problem I posted about, with the error page. Just sayin', it's not going away.

Even in your post above, you have several strange "size" codes incorrectly added to your post.

Your URL works for me - it brings me to the 7th page of that thread (90th post?).
This is what you posted and what works for me:
Code: [Select]
https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=46139.90
So are you saying that the URL you posted (which works for me) gets changed to that bogus URL with the long string of random characters?  That is just odd.  I think has something to do with that strange electric field around your person.   :)

I'm getting the same error while attempting to post an update in my thread, "Anything unusual happening with NWSL?"
Attempting to preview the reply has the same result.

The URL in that case seems to be correct ... if trying to start a new thread: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?action=post2;start=0;board=14

I would almost think that you have malware that’s trying to hijack URLs.  The 403 is due to the fact that the URL doesn’t exist (good eye, @peteski ) so the error makes sense.  Any ideas @Ed Kapuscinski ?

Try opening in an incognito window and see if you get the same.  You’ll have to log in to RW when you do so.

Scrub your machine and Malwarebytes and try again.
