Reprogram decoder number

I have two engines that I have change numbers on and would like to change the address to match the new numbers. I know how to program the new numbers.
The question is if I change to the new numbers will I lose all my custom setting like my speedmatching, etc and have to start from scratch?   Jim

On my system (NCE PowerCab), the answer is no, you won't lose other settings if you only change the number.  Same is true for SPROG.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Same for Digitrax.  I don't know of any system where changing a loco address will reset settings.

By the way, if you use the JMRI software tools (I use them with Sprog, but I believe it can also work with other controllers), then you can save all the settings for a loco (really it's saving them for the decoder) on your computer and restore them automagically under software control.   Kind of like an automatic notebook for your decoder settings.

No.  Changing the address won't affect any other settings on the decoder.  But I agree with the suggestion to use JMRI's Decoder Pro.  It's an excellent tool.
