Really don't care!

LOL!  That sums it all up. It's BLI - it is good by default.  :)

The main spotting feature according to the Diesel Spotter's Guide, is the SW7 has letterboard vents on the side of the hood, SW8, SW9 do not. So the LV unit I posted was listed wrong it is a SW8. So the BLI samples have the letterboard vents but the wrong gussets. At least they have vents were another model doesn't. Like I said I don't really care, if they produce them in a road I model, I will probably purchase some.

As this point it would be better if the door gaps were just left out completely. They are barely noticeable in the prototype photos.

Think it was said the body of these is cast metal. So now we are comparing to the Arnold S2 from how many years ago?

Edit: 1991, 28 years ago...:

It was listed as a SW7 were I got the picture. Really don't care!

If you don't care, keep the misinformation to yourself.

SW8 and SW900 are derived from SW9 and SW1200, but have a single exhaust stack and a shorter top radiator.   Stick with the Life-Like model for these.

Which means fixing the gussets will be that much more of a PITA...

I haven't seen this anywhere yet but BLI is apparently going to be doing a NW2 in N scale with Paragon 3 sound. I was at the World's Greatest Hobby Show in Schaumburg, Illinois today and took the following photo at the Broadway booth. Ken said they would be out later in 2019 but didn't know all the road names yet. They are die-cast and had some heft to them so they should pull well. We'll have to wait and see (hear) how they sound !

Looks like Phase V NW2* (per CN and GN samples), Phase I SW7* (per C&O sample), Phase II SW7* (per PRR sample)...

...so when should we expect to see a MILW TR2 or TR4 set?  :D

LOL!  I'm not going there again (plus, all that kvetchiing didn't result in any model improvement).  :|

Few companies (like Kato, MTL) "get it" and understand how to go easy when depicting things like doors or board gaps, but most others (yes, the ones designed in China) exaggerate those details.  And it is not like they don't have the technology to mold finer details - they for some reason think that they need to exaggerate those details.

C&O 5222 is a SW7:

The PRR loco is a SW9:
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/prr/prr9375ads.jpg

I emailed BLI and informed them the road number was wrong for a NW2, after thanking them for making the model. This is their response:

“Our C&O switchers are SW7’s, not NW2’s.   I believe the artwork and road numbers are correct.

Sincerely,

Matt Williamson
Broadway Limited Imports”

I stand corrected.

See my prior post re: Phase I and Phase II SW7 per the pre-production samples of the C&O (Phase I) and PRR (Phase II) units, also re: the PRR unit in the photo being a Phase II SW7 rather than a SW9.

On the other hand, feel free to remind BLI that the gussets are WRONG.
