Loksound V3.5 100 ohm speaker recommendations

Hi Guys,

I have a Loksound V3.5 shoehorned into an old Rivarossi Challenger.  As you may know the V3.5 needs a 100ohm speaker and getting one to fit N scale is tricky.  I have the twin 50 ohm ESU 50447 and it fits well, I had to shave the enclosure slightly.  But the sound is still week compared to a V4 with an 8 ohm sugar cube type speaker.

Before I rip it all out, which would be a shame as the chip is good, has anybody had any success getting good sound from these by doing anything to the speakers?  Getting really good 8 ohm speakers and 3D printing an enclosure is easy, but 100 ohm speakers which will fit is not so easy.

Cheers, James.

I doubt that you'll ever find a "good" sugar-cube-like speaker with 100 ohm impedance. Unfortunately . . .
. . . 42 . . .

Hi Peteski, that’s what I expected.  Always good to check.  I have a 'bass reflex' speaker which sounds better, just won’t fit!  Guess it’s an eBay job for the V3.5 and a new V4.0 for the Challenger!

Cheers, James
