What the heck is "Primed for Grime"? I also see the cars will in faded not as-built color shades. Wonder how that'll fly with squeaky-clean car running crowd...

Judging by how well the MTL graffiti/weathered car sell, I suspect that Athearn will make profit on their cars too.

They're Athearn's pre-faded/patched rolling stock, meant for eventual weathering/graffiti [done by the modeler].

Do the PS 5277s come with truck mounted or body mounted couplers? Looking at the announcement, its hard to say, but they commented on my post on Facebook regarding they moved all of their N tooling to body mount

Even their old MDC tooling is going body mount. The last Berwick and FMC boxes have coupler pockets molded into the (original MDC) under frame. Why they didn't take the opportunity to make a better under frame is beyond me.

Both Athearn and Exactrail have stated all their tooling is being updated to include body move couplers and metal wheels.

They probably didn't make a better frame for several reasons.  It's cheaper to modify the existing one than to start from scratch; the frame really isn't readily visible on these cars anyway; and if they had made a new, finely detailed frame, someone would complain that now the body should be upgraded to match the frame.  At that point, they're looking at an all-new model.
