The file I got it from, said it's a '54 International Harvester..

@rodsup9000 and @Chris333
I think the one obvious thing I would do is to get rid of the center post in the windshield.
I've never seen any International R Series with a split windshield.

Phar-Mor !  dang that is old.
I remember renting my first Super Nintendo games at Phar-Mor. My mother had to get a Discover card because it was required and she didn't have a major credit card until then. This was 1992, IIRC.

For those wondering what they were, Gradius III, Krusty's Super Fun House, and Super Smash TV.

He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I’ve been on a vehicle jag lately.

The Kroger trailer has some sentimental attachment, as we have one on the farm that used to be the wood shed until the landing gear collapsed. Talk about a weathering challenge!

Playing with photoshopped backdrops. It's not as easy as one might think: scale, form, color, color saturation,  texture, distance etc etc... Sometimes I think I could learn to paint better in the time it takes me to photoshop some scenes. 😜
To be continued....

Thanks Mike! As you know, one of the many challenges of modeling well known and photographed actual places is to have the scenes look like the actual places What a revelation, right?
I don't care for the look of photo backdrops, way too much detail imho, and too much difference between them and the modeled scenery, and I can't paint well enough to make it believable. This approach involves heavily photoshopped photos, but I still have a ways to go to get it right. And I'm using up tons of ink doing test prints....
The next two scenes are 11' of Devore and 19' of lower Cajon Canyon through Keenbrook. I'll post progress, but it may take a while... a teaser preview below. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Otto,

I think it looks great! I had a similar idea, when I get around to backdrops, of dulling down images as you did. Not only, IMO, does it make the backdrop look more model-like, it also makes it easier to alter the backdrop images to erase era-inappropriate details in city scenes (like autos and modern bridges), alter treelines (thin or increase), etc.

Nice job! It looks like it was painted by Bill Alexander (the guy before Scott Ross).  :D

Otto they look fantastic thus far.
I am having the same issues with my HOn3 backdrops.
I think I'll paint mine as I live just a tad too far away to get the images I want!

Well, you achieved that, for sure, because I know exactly where that photo was taken. Pretty good job with the framing and angle to hide I-15. Did you Photoshop-out the traffic, or just get lucky with shutter timing? :D

Pete, thank you, but you're killing me.
I know you meant it as a compliment but I hope it doesn't look kitschy :P
Rod, I'd be happy to drive to Colorado for you and take some shots, for a small fee :D
Mike, the canyon sequence was shot from below the freeway, no photoshop magic necessary.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. It's actually fun do do something creative for a change. Tired of working on wiring and switch machines and fixing engines and installing decoders and...
