Deluxe Innovations Maxi Stack IV

Now that my CSX Cumberland Subdivision is finally operational after years of collecting equipment, I am dusting off and putting in to service old rolling stock.  I have several sets of Deluxe Innovation Maxi Stack IV cars.  They look great, but are so frustrating!  First, the trucks at either end rub on the frame.  I have seen several posts that address, which include filing the frame, using a washer to provide greater separation, and using smaller diameter wheels.  However, the MT couplers are just too darn high.  These are mounted within a built-in metal coupler box, and so I don't see an obvious way to adjust height downwards.  Has anyone else had experience with these cars?  Does MT make couplers that are the opposite of 2004s, i.e. the coupler is offset downwards rather than offset upwards as with the 2004s?  Perhaps a decent sized washer would do the trick, but this would have to fit within the coupler box, and then the lid of the coupler box will not fit.  Any suggestions?

The official fix was a kit supplied by DI that contained thin washers.  Coupler height was never addressed AFAIK.

I've got a bunch of these and following my usual routine test and tweak until they run well.  I don't recall having had a coupler height issue.

Some cars needed no tweaking at all and ran perfectly right out of the box, others needed help.

For what it's worth, I believe mine have 33" wheels on the outer ends and 36" between cars, as the proto would have, and have no coupler height problems. Bob. Jacksonville, FL.
