I’ve had a bit of a saga with my turbo. I ordered it while I was living in an apartment between houses. It got sent to the apartment. My wife ran over there while I was at work to see if it was just left on the sidewalk, like the tracking information said, and like the postal worker for the area had wont to do. Turns out the paranoid guy who lives there now (who wouldn’t even open the door for my 5’4” wife) gave it back to the postal worker. It made it to San Jose before I managed to convince the USPS that the package is meant for me, given that I now live in a different zip code from the apartment, which is different from my last house, which was the zip code tied to my USPS account. I finally managed to get it diverted to the local post office for $7.50, so it should be there by Tuesday.

Come hell or high water (or burning California) I shall have my turbo. Further bulitens as events warrant.

Let the weathering begin.  Providence, RI, February 1976.

Man, Turbos are fugly enough as it is, especially with that bulbous red nose; weathered, they look positively gross! I guess I just don't see the appeal. Pass.

While I cannot disagree, to me its uniqueness beats its ugliness.  But then again, I'm "different": I drive a 2006 Scion xB. My neighbor calls it "pregnant rollerskate".  But I also like  pretty things, like a NYC Dreyfus Hudson.  :)

Finally got a chance to put mine on the rails this morning. And wow, talk about amazing! I think this is the first model train I've ever run where it just "feels" like a real train and not some tiny little N scale toy. It's hard to put into words, but it just has this super heavy/powerful vibe to it. Definitely a keeper for me  :)

Wait, wait you mean to tell us that you drive a Toaster?
Lmao I'm dead. I'm sorry I just for some reason can't imagine you driving around in a Scion of all things...
I'll be totally honest (and I'm not sorry for it) I had kinda imagined you driving a Mercedes or BMW.

Got mine on the track last night. Ran it on DC. I half expected it to sprout wings, with that turbine sound! Way cool. Love the Mars lights reflecting off the rails. (Ran it in a semi darkened room.) Only negative is a rear dome window was dislodged right out of the box. Should be no biggie to fix.
Mike is smiling down on you Jason, and all at Rapido. Great job, worth the wait.

May I ask where you all got your Turbos from?
I'm waiting for modeltrainstuff to list them, but it seems they haven't done so or I missed it...

Mine was pre-order from N Scale Supply. They have stock available now, but did not update their "news" page announcing it. However, a few versions are already out-of-stock.

They are a bit on the expensive side for shops to order generally to keep around for uncommitted inventory, so act fast if you want a specific version.

Thank you everyone for the very positive feedback. I am sure Mike would be extremely proud of what we've accomplished.

I think we are completely sold out - I will have to check with Dan this week.

I know what you mean.  First is the heft of the model (the power units are quite heavy), then there is the loud  jet engine spool-up, and fairly high momentum setting which (along with the superb motor control of the ESU decoder) makes for very smooth starts and braking.  Then there is also the realistic top-speed limit  which probably limits its speed to around 100 MPH.

Keeper, eh?  So you won't be selling it at a discount?  :)

Yup, I drive a white 2006 Scion xB. A "toaster", "Fridge", "box" or any of the other nicknames.
Mercedas or a Beamer? Neah!  But I do own another "grown-up" car: a 1985 Caddy Eldorado Biarritz - my "pimpin mobile".   If I could own a Mercedes, I would love to get my hands on a mint mid-70's 450SL with European headlights. Those are nice!  Or a late-60s BMW 2002i.
