Problem fixed...
The speaker is like the IMRC SD40-2. There are contacts.

I think one of the spring contacts on the speaker was not in its slot correctly and was not enabled to spring and make contact with the plate under the motor.
The trick is in reassembly. I disassembled the chassis, then checked everything then left the speaker out, reassembled the chassis with the trucks installed. Then pushed the speaker into place. There are lugs on either end that are tapered (1 way). So it clicks into place. Once I fixed the problem contact and enabled it to move, then reassembled and put the speaker into place... Put on the track.. Yay. I have sound. All fixed.

I wonder if this mean that they don't test-run every model at the factory, or is this something that happened during  shipping?

Peteski, on my friends loco the pick up wire was not soldered. A step missed in production.

I wonder if anyone noticed that the "SF" on the ATSF Kodachrome paint scheme is not in the correct location on the conductor/fireman side just like the B23-7s.

And the speaker has failed again.. So the issue I have is intermittent.. Im thinking it probably did work at the factory but seems to be a problem in the connections to the speaker in the bottom.. More testing to be completed.

Yep, just did, thanks to you

It's "Shouldn't Paint So Fast", not "So Fast Shouldn't Paint"  :D

D&H GP39-2 all good now.. Making all sounds a EMD should.. Happy camper.. Did not change anything from last time I tested it. Just put it aside and now is all ok.
