Did some of the prototype MILW boxcars not have the "THE" above the roadname to the left of the door?

No, the other side of the Atlas car has the "The", this is just a misprint that wasn't noticed until these photos were taken.  Atlas got it right on the artwork.

The 40’ length was implied, given the entire topic revolved around the 40’ MTL model.

40' PS-1 would have been a non-issue had they used their new 50' car and 10' Superior door (as a prototypical substitute for the PS door they don't have)

Why?  The new 50' cars suffer from the same non-prototypical height-stretching that the 40' and original 50' models suffer from.  It's just less obvious on the 50' cars because they are longer.  The only proportional 50' PS-1s in N are the Athearn/ex-MDC models.

"as a prototypical substitute for the PS door they don't have"

That's always puzzled me.  They make many types of doors, but no PS doors for their PS boxcars.  Strange.

So back to the OP, Nquiring minds want to know. Ed, did you pull the trigger on the cars?

Non-issue from the standpoint that the model is at least based on a PS-1...

Athearn has the opposite problem of using a PS door instead of a Youngstown door.

So are the Athearn/MDC models, which are more accurate to the prototype.

Nope. With our impending move, I realized I should behave and figured if my mind is ever changed they'll likely be around in the second hand market.
