Seems like the OP in the Trains forum should contact the B&O RR Museum in Baltimore.  They are the most likely to know something about the model, and would probably have the most interest in displaying it.

My guess would be that the model was used by EMD to display that paint scheme to the B&O.

Preston Cook is probably the best available authority on all things EMD.

It's clear what it is, there probably wasn't more than one, and it's obviously way cool.  What more is there you need an expert to tell you?   :D

I was the op sorry I know there might not be much more info but hey I might find someone who may know a bit more just figured it was worth asking here too. Tried contacting B&O museum and they never answered also tried the historical society and they don't know anything. As for loaning it to a museum I'm a littly wary to send it across the country from where I am may consider it if I can ever make a driving trip there though

Did you try both 410-752-2490 and 410-837-3262?

Is there any evidence it's been painted more than once?  It'd be neat if there was an earlier paint scheme underneath or maybe even another railroad.

I know the new SOO paint scheme (Red White and Black circa early 1960s) was tested on such a styling model and presented to SOO management for approval before actual locomotives were painted.

I wondered that too not sure if I want to risk trying to take a layer of paint off though.

I believe SOO got to keep the model; so I doubt yours has any paint beneath the top coating (????).

Yeah definitely don't try to remove any paint.  Under the model, are there any paint spatters that aren't blue?  If there are any I'm guessing it'd be around the edge.
