The dispatcher really messed up this afternoon, sending 1445 to the freight station and 1011 to D’Amato Lumber to pick up cars as 1124 was running through town….

Just need some weathering to complete my second H10-44 but I couldn't resist running it along with my original and doing a little switching.

Awesome!  If you could only buy these ready to go, wouldn’t be as nice yours but cool none the less.

I don't visit this forum often but when I do there are always wonderful and inspirational postings of the great work being done in N scale, to many to compliment each one individually.

So to all to all of you N scale modelers. Great work and keep it going.

Seconded - well said.

After a fair bit of focus on the layout in recent weeks, I have spent the past week or two on equipment.  While other road cars were not as common on the British Columbia Railway, I do need a few and the first obvious candidates are CN and CP.  I picked up a few suitable candidates from Micro-Trains, substituted MT #1001 or #1009 trucks, MT #1027 body mount couplers, and FVM 33" wheels from my dwindling supply.  These need to be weathered and will then go into service on my layout:

I met up this morning with Jeff Briggs who painted ten new cars for me which I recently built, including one of his recently released HSC gondolas and two of his NSC flat cars:

I will now have the opportunity to apply decals to these, which is one of my favourite aspects of the hobby.  Jeff also printed an appropriately shaped top for my mock-up of the Canfor wood burner at Chetwynd:

and painted my recently built log loader and forklift trucks for the Canfor mill, for which I supplied some Canfor decals:

These will be delivered to the mill via flat car during my next operating session.

Jeff mentioned that he has two new locomotive kits coming out very soon: the MLW M-630W and the EMD SDL-39.  The former is great news for BCR modellers, and I understand that the latter will be of interest to Milwaukee Road modellers.

Thanks for looking,

Tim

Painted the fascia and light canopy this week which sets the layout off nicely.   Next steps are to get some drapes to hide all the clutter underneath and paint the backdrop a basic sky blue.

I finished-up the first PRR F22 flat car from a mold I made using a scratch-built master. The master is basically a duplicate of the styrene F22 I built earlier, but with modifications to keep silicone from getting into places where it didn't need to go. For weight, I mixed tungsten powder (0.5oz) with the resin (about a 50/50 mixture). Once the casting was done, I added wire details (stirrups, brake gear, etc), paint, decals, a wood deck, weathering, etc. I posted more photos in the scratchbuilding section here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=45214.new#new

Here are a few photos:

Bill ( @skytop35 ),
I really enjoyed leaning back, folding my hands over my gut and zoning out watching your switching moves.  Loved the sound too!  Sort of a zen experience.

However, it looks as if engine 773 needs to have the lead truck's wheelset looked at and put back in gauge, which will keep it running smoother through the switch.  Just sayin'...

Also, as I was nearing a kundalini experience by watching your switching moves, the highlights glaring off of the shiny black exterior wheel surfaces on a lot of the cars you were switching made me abruptly stop saying "ohmmmmm...".

The irony of lovely weathered and detailed rolling stock but with shiny black wheels kinda bopped me over the head, and awakened a doubt about the brown Delrin MT low-pros I've still got on my cars that haven't yet been converted to FVM narrow low-pros...which I paint before installing.  I don't think the brown color is going to stop the highlights from forming the next time I video my own switching moves, so I should probably start painting the wheelsets on my most photographed cars, even if they haven't been converted to metal wheelsets yet!

Thanks for the unintentional heads-up!

And, as usual your work is inspirational.

Cheerio!
