The NH was a commuter and short-haul passenger RR -- my version of it is supposed to be busy with such traffic. Yeah, the trackage is set up to do that but I had no terminal and only one small-town station platforms on the mostly finished scenery. The only place left unscenicked was a small inside corner where the track curved through. That would have to do. Looking through pictures of vintage NH small stations I saw one that was nearly exactly like Atlas's Mayfair Station. Bought it, roughed it together, and set it on the curve. There's a junction just short of the station, and I'd put one of those distinctive NH switch towers there. OK, repositioned that across the track from the station.
Suddenly it was obvious there should be some sort of town nearby (I hadn't planned on one, but inspiration struck) Just to get a rough idea of one, I scrounged up structures left over from other layouts, remains of partially-missing building kits, mangled pre-assembled buildings, pieces of dissected DPMs, and other old layout flotsam I had around and arranged them near the station and tower. It actually turned out pretty neat, as you can see (well, if you use your imagination):
Obviously a fixer-upper, but now I have two commuter stops. Something about the arrangement reminded me of Cornersville, the charming little scene that used to be on Lee Weldon's current layout. Until an expanding rail network bought up the land and had the town removed. I thought it'd be nice to give this place a similar name, and came up w/ "Lee Corners" or "Lee's Corner", depending on how locals refer to it.
