Hey guys...I've just finished this kit and am starting to package them up, so I'm offering $25 off if you order before July 31. The price of the kit is $150 and includes the new, improved version of Finer Iron & Metal, and the Power House add-on. Click on the link for a lot more details and pictures.

Great to have you back Dave!

The building looks-superb. What impresses me the most is how close the to outside surface the windows are mounted. Many laser-cut buildings have the windows mounted on the inside of the (out-of-scale thick) walls.  That destroys the realism. In your kit the windows look "right".  The brick detail is also outstanding (even on the corners).  The kit appears to be made with a watchmaker's precision.  :D  All that engraving must take quite a bit of time on the laser cutter.

What is your technique for painting bricks? They also look very realistic. What paints did you use for brick and mortar colors?   How were they applied?

Thanks Peteski!

The mounting of the windows is different than the original kit. Thanks for noticing! And yes, I really wanted to improve the fit of parts and I think I was able to do that. This technique will be applied to all future models.

The kit comes with an insert with instructions for using my technique for painting the brick and mortar. It's actually included with the instructions for the power house. Here is the link:

It's page 18 and 19. In short I use Bragdon Enterprises Used Brick weathering powder and Dullcote.

If you were to see that kit in a picture in the right context, you would swear it's a real building.

Thanks Doug! I really do want my models to look as real as possible. The goal is "museum" quality.

I just wanted to remind everybody that next Tuesday is the last day to get $25 off this kit!

Dave,

A stunning model; my pre-order has been placed.

Will the Sugar Beet Refinery (modules one and two) be retuning to the market?

Failed to acquire the aforementioned kits prior to their being discontinued.

Thanks for the info Dave!
The fancy brick detail is amazing, and the brick arches over the windows make the kit look very realistic. That detail is often not modeled in N scale kits depicting brick structures.

One day of the sale left, guys. Thanks to all who have ordered already!

I may very well re-release the refinery in and updated version. I'm finishing up my next kit right now, but when its done I'm going to take another look at making some improvements. Stay tuned!

Thanks again Peteski. Working on deliveries!
