No time for modeling this past week, but I did stop by the roundhouse in Cleveland to help out on the progress of Reading 2100. For an complete update about the locomotive's progress, be sure to check out the video on Trains Magazine's Newswire.

@Ntrainz1 has renumbered (to non-duplicate numbers) several of my PRR RS3s AND turned an Atlas VO-1000 into a Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines ~BS12 for me. (The photo is from his layout.)

I never realized how high those Baldwins sat over the RS units, or is that an optical illussion?

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

I believe Samhongsa did these as N Scale versions of the Bowser VO-1000 as a speculative project that was offered to Atlas without their design input.   The Korean designers stretched the height of the hood and the cab to fit in the light board (which was actually not necessary).
I haven’t pulled out the correct height Samhongsa Hallmark brass VO-1000 to compare to a RS, but ithe Atlas’s version is taller than the prototype...

So what happens at the end of your last session, Ed? Everybody gets two beers, a hammer and a scrollsaw to use to take home whatever pieces of the layout they want? Or you all just chop the thing up?

It would help if the hood were seated on the walkway

You mean like the NCAA basketball championship where everyone gets to cut and keep a piece of the net?  Video if that happens!  :D

Having built much of the benchwork under it - that’s my job sonny. And by that stage we will be into the fine bourbon (I hope)

They do not sit that high.
This is Atlas's original Korean version of the VO-1000. See Spookshow for the history.

The body does not clip into the frame which is a pain if you pick it up.
Bob had the hood off for decaling and it is not firmly on the frame in the original picture (where you can see the gap).
This company also did not bother to install the handrails (they are included in the box) and they are a pain to install.
(I have already lost one corner railing to low earth orbit on one of my other units.)

The later Chinese version was put totally together before shipping and the hood actually stays on the unit during pick-up.

Here is another picture from Bob's layout with the hood actually seated on the frame (no handrails yet).

This picture shows the difference between the Atlas Korean and Chinese versions on roof details (4 stacks to 1).
Many of the Baldwin VO-1000s differed since Baldwin still held their steam era practice of custom building units to different railroads tastes instead of producing a single basic mass produced unit which would have kept their manufacturing costs down.

The Baldwin roof line was a little higher than the Alcos, as shown in this picture.

Another issue with the Korean version is that the cab did not always seat properly as you can see in this picture (the other side is seated squarely).
