With a name like Wabtec, it is goning to have to rebrand. I know with big ugly oragami diesels it may not be a consideration, But I just wouldn't buy anything big and mechanical from a company named Wabtec. Makes me think of Whamo! Hopefully they'll go with the MPI brand name. A little more palatable.

I don't see the Wabtec name as a problem... it's just a modernization of WABCO, the acronym for their old-school roots, Westinghouse Air Brake Company. They are a traditional, long-time RR industry supplier, so the loco biz is not new to them, not in the least.

Besides, what they make will still be Toasters as far as I'm concerned. :D

Does anyone know if Wabtec is getting the technology side of the rail business? Or just locomotives?

Sounds like something Wile E. Coyote ordered from Acme.

Looks like production and tech. It's a strange world without GM and GE building engines.

Will they be able to use the rights to the GE name for production? If not, I can see them adopting MPI again.

The sale price is TWICE the total equity of Wabtec in 2017. That is a LOT of debt. I'm not sure how they will fare against the resources CAT has at it's disposal.

I'm not sure how the CAT products are winning over customers.   Their ECO line seem to be their biggest seller and are now in competition with GE in the rebuild market.

Haha, it's actually right across the street from the rudest tree ever...
