Saw these in a TRU the other day.  Not a huge fan of the redesigns.

Looks like a cost-reduction.  Items don't need to be masked and painted, just stamped.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Yep, pad printing at its "best".  But they are U-G-L-Y!

Yes, like with everything I see around me, the "new and improved" items are usually "cheapened and simplified".

You forgot to use the scale icon.  :D

@GaryHinshaw would want to know why you didn't use a scale icon.   :x

Almost looks like a totally line to sell in addition to the original ones.

They sit too high and will need to be lowered. But at least they kept the body mounted couplers.  :D

Interesting..

How much you want to bet, Thomas is now plastic with fake wood grain and pad printed over that..

I think old (non wood) Thomas had more wood than new wooden Thomas.

Looks like Annie and Claribel are now Wood (maybe plastic) blocks mounted to plastic wheel base assembly.

And any car can now be subbed into the same assembly.

No wood for me on this..

The only plastic in my Brio Trains where the wheels, and the hoppers in my side dump hoppers.

Lots of wood there!..

I remember the Brio trains from before the introduction of the Thomas line. They were wood all through, including the wheels. And originally the couplers where far from automatic.

The new ones are going to turn the old ones into collector's items.  Time to list them on eBay for $1,000 each!  :D

If someone would release a Thomas series in N scale that isn't  $5,000,000,000 (plaza japan) :x I'd buy it.
