Here is an interesting page with some seriously tight images of a B60b being used as an outbuilding, in case you really want to superdetail one:

Digging up Zombie Threads here.

Does anyone know if Hells gate is going to run any more B60b baggage cars? I'm building a SF Fast Mail, and they were common thought equipment, and I'd like to add one to my consist.

Sorry to say most likely not. When Claus and I started Hell Gate Models so many years ago, we expected, and hoped, to be put out of business by one of the RTR manufacturers doing their own PRR B60b. Unfortunately that never happened.  There was a B60b on Shapeways until that died. Seems like a good project for someone with a 3D printer. Anyone?

There was a conversation on the PRR group on groups.io about this last year.  A poster named "Noah" who has a small company called Uncommon Models posted that they were considering a B60b release in N scale.  Clause Schlund also participated in the conversation.

The Uncommon Models website shows a couple structure projects underway, but no B60b project that I could find.  You might want to get in touch with them, to see if it is still on the to-do list.  Or, if there are enough people interested, maybe it will be put on the to-do list.

disclaimer- I know nothing about the company, other than what was presented on those two websites.  So, this is not a recommendation, per se, but a potential resource.

I've managed to accumulate three... One I built forever ago, plus a built one from @Lemosteam and a kit from @Ed Kapuscinski , but I'd love to see this come back, perhaps in 3D print form. I'd also love to see the GHQ R50B return... Glad to have one on hand.

Damn. Well.... back in the day, I self taught myself a 3D imaging program called "3D canvas" and started doing models for Microsoft Train Simulator. My "Swan song" was the K4 and I1SA that a company called BLLW put out (broadway limited locomotive works). I did the actual 3D model of both, the texturing, animation and physics were done by others. Maybe its time I find a new program to teach myself, and get to work....

I need more of both, and I already have designed an R60.  All three are in my product plans for Keystone Details.

Splendid news!  8)

I already have one of the Hellgate models, so I am good. But anyone else modeling N&W passenger service should have at least one.  :D

N&W had ten cars built to this design (class BEk #s 125-134, Bethlehem, 1929), and they also got around a bit. A few lasted through the beginning of Amtrak.

I will eventually need a couple for the New Haven Mail & Express train I've decided I'm starting to build, so looking forward to when you can get to it John!

This is a B60. It's a Shapeways model from way back, I think the designer was Michael Livingston???

Never argue with idiots; they'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

That looks pretty decent. I bet it would look even better now with higher resolution printing.

He will not share his IP. We have had many discussions.  He was prolific to say the least. He offered every head end PRR class, coaches, diners, club cars, almost everything.

That's a shame...all that was happening when I was inactive in N scale. So he did all this, but has 1) no intention of making them again and 2) no intention of letting anyone else do it either? Sigh.

I feel like there's a gaping hole in PRR head-end cars...the only absolutely correct one "available" today is the Kato BM70M, and good luck with that. Then there's the close enough for most folks MTL B70.

We need B60bs, R50bs, BM70ks, BM70Ms, and PB70s to name a few.

Rumor has it that BLI might eventually do the PB70 and the Z74 in N, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

@Lemosteam

John, I'll guarantee I'll buy at least 5 B60b's and more likely 10 or 12.  And likely as many R50b's as well.

If that helps to get your cause rolling... Lol.  The 70 Ft MTL baggages just don't look right as stand-ins.  I wince every time I try to remind myself that B70's indeed existed...

I have thought about scheming some car sides to put on Bachmann 60ft passenger cars and getting some 2DP-5 trucks...

When I wrote prolific, I mean that it would cost thousands of dollars to buy his IP, even if he was wiling to sell it.  I would estimate that he spent 2-3k hours to design all of that.
