An update on reconstruction of the Sub - drywall has been replaced and will be sanded tomorrow; some ceiling tiles have been replaced.

The reno contractor has been most cooperative and as you see has draped they layout extensively.  What you can't see is he has also tarped all the doors to contain the sanding residue.  They plan to spend all day Monday cleaning, then move to painting.

It's not impossible to think I may be able to try a cleaning train sometime next week.  We will also find out if the dramatic swings of temperature and humidity are going to mess things up.  I'm hoping the use of the spline proves it's worth.

Finished a long thought about project; one of my many freight car projects that need to be worked on. I cut off the hopper bays on this MT car and added ballast type doors instead. Finished it off with some weathering and a ballast load. This is a stand-in for SP's H-50-5 class of cars. It kind of looks like a MOW car but isn't as these cars all had regular revenue service numbers.

Richie:

After revenue livestock service, the car has been cleaned up, fitted with louvered panels for ventilation, and repainted (either wholly or partially) and re-stencilled for work service.

Y'a pas de faute orthographique en "Canadien".  Au Canada, on parle français en Québec et Acadie (aujourd'hui ; "Nova Scotia").  "Canadien" veut dire en anglais "Canadian".

Well, that certainly explains why everyone is out of stock on that kit.

But seriously, nice job.  One of the major advantages of N scale is that we can have industries actually large enough to need shipments in boxcars.

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.

I've noted that the CN 1950s era passenger decal sets from Black Cat have a French letterboard- but I don't know which cars were lettered that way.  Is there a list somewhere?

No, but Canadian National cars that regularly interchanged into the U.S. had 3 sides. One for French and 2 more for the Amercian and Canadian English spellings.
