An Alco C-415 would also be a handy candidate.  I have a chassis already for one of those.

Chalk another vote for a C-415. Maybe use David Cutting's chassis or a Kato DD13

Having now seen the the Intermountain version, that is an excellent suggestion.  Modellers are faced with either having to shorten the nose on a Kato snoot or lengthening the nose on the Intermountain to get to 102".  There are other modifications such as steps and grills which make an accurate replacement shell worth doing.  Outside my era but definitely a viable suggestion in my opinion.

Tim

That and the paint has errors and...  its an Intermountain.  Can't beat a Kato chassis in my opinion.

I'm going to be lazy and ask what RS18 parts would be needed to turn an Atlas RS11 into the RS18u (or get as close as possible) that are owned by LAL/WNY&P which were CP 8761 and 8738?

B&H 416 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4087820
WNY&P 417 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3721807

And will the M630 that you do match the M630 on the WNY&P?   It was CP 4573

Maybe you could take up the MLW M636?

The M630 shell I am reworking will match CP or BCR units as built. CP did a lot of filter upgrades to their M630s that you will probably have to do some work to match exactly. I would love to do an M636 but I haven't had much interest. I have most of the CAD work done from the M630 kit so it wouldn't be too much of a reach.

My CP RS18u shell kit will model the RS18 low nose accurately.

Hi Jeff
Maybe you haven't got an M-636 in your catalog, but here are a couple made from your M-630 kit.  Both have the larger radiator which is the main spotting difference and the CP version has the modified filters and water expansion tank.  Thanks for making these fine kits.  The WNYP M-636 is with all my other workbench projects, in storage while we're between houses.
Cheers

Here's the CP M-636 which survives today as DL 3643.

I would love to do an M636 but I haven't had much interest.

I had ordered 6 M636 shells/kits from David Cutting before he pulled the plug on his project.  I know that's not enough to make a run worthwhile though.

What about the RS18 question?  I can't tell from the pictures (which aren't labeled as to part #) and the part list on the order page or the catalog list page which is which.

Sorry to be a pest.

To create an ex-CP RS18u you need my CP RS18u body, a small RS18 fuel tank, and an Atlas RS11 (My preference) or True Line RS18.

One of the advantages of my rapid manufacturing model is I CAN do a very small run if I have the CAD drawing from another project. I have M630 drawings already and I am planning M630W units so perhaps I should visit the M636 in original and rebuilt when I get there.

I've been trying to figure out how I'm going to make 1-2 dozen of these for years and years.

Thanks Jeff!  Order placed.  I'll be watching for the C630 to be finished.  And those M636's

Hey Jeff, what about CN GS drop bottom gons?

I would be willing to help out with the cad work if you are willing to bring it to market.
Because why not...

I'm always interested in that sort of offer. This would be a good model for my printers. Drop me an email through my website and we can tall about it if you like.
