Speaking as someone who receives design requests all of the time, it is very helpful to include an image or drawing of what you are looking for and/or referring to.

For instance, someone may not be as intimately knowledgeable of what a GP15T is or what would be required to design a new roof section for it.

This way we all learn.

Is the interest there for a couple versions of CF7 units? Proto material is abundant. Always been one of my favorites. I prefer to do entire shells rather than details.

BC Rail snowplow

And I second the request for a BC Rail S-13 switcher shell to fit whatever chassis will work.

I am not adverse to HO, but the printers have a smallish build volume, and HO takes a LOT longer to print items, even increasing the layer thickness slightly. The N scale PGE plywood cabooses I have, I intend to release in HO scale as well, as printed kits. It will take me a week or so to re-work the drawings to print effectively in that scale. I have done lots of detail parts I will be posting on my website this week sometime...the detail is amazing.

Could you comment on the probability of my HO nose suggestion? Unlikely, Maybe, Likely?

Thanks and Best Wishes,
Dave

If you could supply prototype info for the part you were interested in, and marketed the part I would be game. It's always a risk to spend the time to develop something when a market isn't as large as it would be for a complete shell.

What model and brand printer are you using ? Is it a secret ? I see I am not the only one interested to know.

Will do. I have a Milwaukee Road Facebook Group (Remembering the Milwaukee Road Beer Line) and know quite a few HO modelers who would be interested. I can supply measurements of photos. Send me a PM and maybe we can converse via regular email?

Thanks and Best Wishes,
Dave

SD60I cabs for the SD60M (used by Conrail, NS and CSX)?

I'd like to see SD60I cabs as well.

I prefer to do entire shells rather than details.

Perhaps a U28B or U30B?  They both could use the Atlas U23B mech.

http://www.nsdash9.com/details/NS6756.html

It would fit the Atlas SD60M.  The only differences I am aware of between the SD60M and SD60I is that the SD60I's nose door is on the opposite side of the SD60M and addition of the rubber nose seam.

I'd be down for an early phase U30B low nose.

Seems like it is a proprietary information.  :|

Other than maybe avoiding an over-analysis of the printer make and model here in the forums, I'm not sure why it can't be discussed either.

I've spent quite a bit of time looking into 3D printers for several years now for my own use and the market isn't particularly unique in any way with largely the same technology being used in a variety of different price points. That said, layer thickness on an SLA printer (whether laser based or DLP) is only part of getting good results. I could be very happy with the current FormLabs2 for N scale but since that printer has been around for more than two years now, I'm holding out for a FormLabs 3. That industry isn't innovating much at the moment and in fact pivoting a bit to chase the higher end markets as the consumer market isn't there in large enough numbers.

Anyway, back on topic. Amusing side notes aside... :D

Yes back to topic. I don't mind discussing printer specs in relation to production jobs but generally it is proprietary processes. Thanks for understanding and respecting that this is a business for me. I endeavor to deliver the best and most accurate parts available, and I hope this technology enables me to serve modellers even better in the future.

I think the issue you're going to run into here is that there are some very knowledgable people on this forum including manufacturers big and small, engineers and more that have more than dabbled in 3D printing and have often shared their experiences collectively to try and find a solution that gets us very close to injected pieces. If your product comes close to producing that result you won't have any issues. But if it is banded enough to be visible, some might be ok with it and others won't be. So my friendly advice is head it off at the pass ASAP so as to set expectations accordingly.

It's nothing personal (although sometime it comes across that way), just a bunch of nerds with high expectations.  :D
