Not sure I agree with the sentiments of the post, although I did almost buy and HO structure off of EBay last week, assuming since I searched "N scale buildings" that all listings would come up as filtered for scale.

NSS, FRT, Wig Wag, all are N scale mostly if you want that assurance.  And, MBK clearly lets you go to your preferred scale with a filter, and just in case, scale is listed above every entry. (Sadly, only 1 N scale item on clearance right now, although that could be a positive.....N scale is selling great!

Similar to "measure twice, cut once" proverb, "check twice before checking "Add to cart" should apply to all purchases. :)  I have never found it to be a big deal.......

Every time I’ve ordered from nscalesupply I’ve had great luck.the one time he didn’t have what I ordered he emailed me within a day to let me know. Plus, their pricing isn’t usually far off from MBK or BLW.

Same issue here - ordered an item three weeks ago, got the confirmation email, and nothing after that. I've sent two emails since then asking for an update, and no response.

I have trouble coming to terms with why people are so averse to using a phone anymore in cases such as these?

Last time I looked Nscalesupply did not post a phone number on their site. Now it has been awhile since I looked admittedly.

His site says "online orders only".  I don't think there's a phone.

There is also www.fiferhobby.com that is 100% n scale.
Mike and Robin are good to work with too.

And even though they aren't 100% n scale www.nationalcapitaltrains.com stocks more n than other scales. Ordering is a little quirky but far more personal and the customer service was great.

I have trouble coming to terms with why people are so averse to using a phone anymore in cases such as these?

My aversion to phones, and this comes from my numerous round robins with Wig Wag, is that promises are made and never followed up on and then it turns into a he said, she said with the vendor. Online ordering is usually documented with an invoice or order confirmation that has pertinent info and, as a document, it is a hard cop 'promise' between vendor and consumer, that can be referenced.

With Wig Wag it was a matter that he never removes items from his website and lists them as in stock, even though they're not. He used a dated ordering form and promises to ship said non-existent items, at some point, charges my card, and then I wait and wait and wait. After waiting for months, he ignored emails and I was forced to pick up the phone and call. It just became tedious, and after a few more order attempts I had learned my lesson and just gave up on him as a sources for product, his inventory tracking was too unreliable.

I used Kleins for the longest time, because they were my LHS for so long, but its lack of pre-order, having to wait to pounce on an item when it showed up as available, got old fast, too much like eBay. Last few orders I have used Chuck, and I trust his online ordering system and that he'll ship the products when the manufacturer ships them to him or let me know they're a no-go in a timely fashion.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

There's a phone number for N scale supply shown here:

Here's another listing for NSS here:
http://www.arvadaeconomicdevelopment.org/directory/business/n-scale-supply

Speaking of strictly N Scale suppliers, here's another one.  I've ordered a few things from them with excellent results.

I just tried the NationalCapitalTrains email request process and haven’t heard from them in 2-3 weeks.  If they have what they say the do I would buy it......

I have ordered from Trainworld many times with no problems. He does sort by scale and manufacturer, and will do preorders.

Bernie is a one man shop, he could be out of town or tied up. When I used him, he was quick and responsive, and even though he's east coast he had my order to Utah in two days. That was in November. I would try again.

Agree with Marty regarding Trainworld.  I have ordered items from them for many years without a problem.  Once I received an N scale locomotive that would not run.  I called them, returned it for credit on a better (Kato) unit, and no problem.  Also, I have recently ordered twice on line from Fifer Hobby and highly recommend Fifer for exceptional service, quality N products, and excellent web site YouTube tutorials for us in the N crowd.

My orders there must evaporate. I never get a response, my order or a reply to my inquire as to what the issue is.   I think hog will get better as the transition continues to progress.

I buy often from N Scale Supply. And not once have I had a problem.
