Good suggestions all around. I'll need drawings or an HO scale car to reference dimensions, so to increase the chances of something being made I'd appreciate if finding drawings or an appropriate model was already done. For the moment I am seriously considering the following:

Conrail coil shield (G52V) - I can't seem to find anywhere to buy an exactrail model of this car, so drawings would be nice
53' 6" GSC flat car - same as the exactrail HO scale model, much more plentiful at the moment

I don't want to jump headfirst into a big hopper or tank car project because those involve much more complex molds. But looks like next I might be due for a big plastics hopper.
