Color matching was pretty good actually. Only a hint of lightness in the Conrail sample. UP gray was a good match.

The SD40-2 looks really good. It's a true phase I with an 81" nose while the IM has an incorrect 88" nose on their phase I. Of course different decoders means the shines should be different enough from ESU to provide a nice contrast in MU.

BLI SD40-2 doesn't appear to suffer from IMRC SD40-2/Life-Like C424 syndrome

I have a feeling we may also see another SD40-2. Exact quote was "Look at the engines (plural) we have in HO sand you will see what is heading to N. When I asked about the C39-8, they confirmed it.

MTL:
Big news here is that they will be introducing underslung trucks like those made by BLMA, ExactRail and Trainworx. These trucks will be designed to lower cars to proper ride height. No word on what types of trucks will be included in this, or if the kingpin is offset or centered.

Looks like fixing ride height will be a lot easier soon!

North American Railcar:
PS 5077 box cars. Not sure if these are plate B cars or not. The guy at the both didn't even know what plate B meant.

Thanks for the photos Daniel.  The Scale Trains GEVOs are looking really good.  Did they have any carbon black hoppers (or the new 5188 hoppers) on display?

Very good news about the MT truck re-design!  The BLMA/Atlas trucks are scarce and MT is likely to keep these in production on a more regular basis.  I would like to see them adopt the matte finish that the BLMA trucks had (without sacrificing rolling quality) since they take paint better.

Honestly, the MTL redesign was probably the biggest news of the show for us. I can't wait to see them.

Yes the carbon black cars were there but I could not get photos of them that would do it justice. Rather than post a black blob... Decent photos or nothing

They did look very good though. I may buy one with the excuse that it is going to supply material for ink/toner over at the Boston Globe
