Overland Ohio crane at $665  (in dirty condition):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/BRASS-N-Overland-Burlington-Northern-Ohio-Crane-F-P-AS-IS-NO-RESERVE/352257860595?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

I happen to have one (disassembled).   But seriously is this insane or what?

On looking at the photos I'm reminded of the rather unsatisfied feeling I get from the two or three Overland models I have in the collection. For as expensive as these were originally, and, like the crane here, some are still somehow drawing stupid prices, the modeling refinement is rather crude, at least in comparison to plastic in the past decade.

I don't get it. :|

We can't even get a re-run of the Russel plows.

Definitely!

But do we go ahead and award @fcnrwy23 grand prize now, or?   :o :o

Those three threads are absolutely "Best Of" material.

Nope! He has to start this stuff specifically FOR the challenge! We still have a chance!

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

We are always interested in ideas for cars that would be better as cast and etched kits - rather than plastic injection cars. Our Welded rail http://www.nscalekits.co.uk/welded_rail.html sells very well Other ideas for MoW would be welcome.

Saw this kit at a recent train show.

https://www.cmrproducts.com/store/N-Scale-Russell-Snow-Plow-Kit-p58428289

That looks suspiciously like someone used the old Walthers plow as a master <insert some variant of "Walthers doesn't appreciate N-scale" rant here>

Wow, the contest hasnt' even started and I am getting "Honoray Mention".
I agree A "new project", done just for the challege would be a "Fair" requirement!

That means I would have to "decline" from entering the following catagories...

Rail Grinding
Ballast Cleaning
Track Renewal
Ditch Cleaning
Ballast Vacuum
Safety (Like NS's First Responder Trains)
and Test or Track Evaluation (Like, NS, CP and CN's trains).

I would Still Highly encourage the challenge...
