I never thought we would be able to order direct from the factory. For $10, it’s worth the gamble.

Look:

Shot them a message too, maybe these will be N...

Same reply on @tom mann 's post, so guess if someone wants to give them measurements, and try it out...

It looks like they have a minimum order of about 1000 pcs.  And that would mean like pieces not 100 of these, 50 of those, etc.  That also is likely to have a fixed setup charge with the individual pieces then priced per.  Also requires a good, complete drawing with tolerances.  But if you need a few thousand... 8)

For those who have expressed an interest in the past, if you click on Tom's link above, then the photos of the parts, then scroll across, one of the pictures will show a brief video of a "gang tool" lathe running, probably making wheels.  That is EXACTLY the kind of machine  that I ran my various 24", 26" and 33" Z & N scale wheels in and much what the setup looked like when running.  I had a pneumatic parts catcher extending to catch the part at the end of the cycle so it wasn't lost in the chip tray and allowing a pretty hands free operation.  I did not run enough at that time (several hundred of a size) to set up bar pulling but that would be the last step to virtually unattended production.  With the addition of special made auxiliary CNC spindle it's also the machine I ran my gears in.  That setup looked a bit different due to the vertical live tool and motor mounted above the normal tool positions.

But 1000 only does 250 cars, so for some of us, we need 1000s, and for those that don't, maybe if we can get them to do a run of say 10,000, we can probably share the cost, have one person buy the 10,000 and if someone only needs/wants 100, they can buy them off the bulk buyer.  If I can get proper measurements, I'm tempted to get 1000 just to see, and if they are worth it, buy more at a later time

The last time I dealt with Fox Valley I called them. It worked well, and their customer service was very good.

Got a reply back, and they can get me quotes of 1000, 10,000 or 50,000, however I need to verify my measurements.

For a 33" wheel that fits an MTL truck, which I figure is the most common size I'd need, or others on here.

I got a wheel diameter of 5.19mm
wheel width of 1.52mm
axle length of 13.68mm

This being a narrow tread wheel. Can anyone else measure a set and see if I'm close off, etc?

If you are going through all this trouble, why not make them to the NMRA specs?

I'm up for a group buy if anyone else is. I have 700+ cars with MTL trucks that need new wheelsets.

Maybe we should start a Railwire store with Proto N items like these.

Pretty sure the company can provide rail as well. C50? C25?

Asked them what dimensions they would need, got wheel diameter, and diameter and length of the axle.

And just asked to make sure they want the wheel diameter, not counting the flange.

So looking at the doc they sent me, looks like they want the wheel diameter with flange. Hopefully with the next email I get some clarification on the flange height versus overall wheel diameter.

So these will have toy-like wheel face and generic tread profile?   :|  At least the tread has a conical (not flat) profile.
