I’d be in for a laser cut kit. Odd little shops like this dot south Louisiana, particularly in poorer areas.

I’m in. Same for Eastern Kentucky.
Modeling the C&O in Kentucky.

This is excellent. If there's a run, I'm in.
At first, I actually had to look that this WASN'T some photoshop trickery to make it look like model brick.
Unreal.

Also Ed's Law.

That being said, when is the Coney Island kit coming out?
@dougnelson - get to work on that for me, please  :D

Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

I am thinking that Peteski will see this and complain about the gaps between the bricks! :tommann: :D

I see what you did here!   :P

As it has been pointed out by now, these are cinder-block-size blocks. I don't know their official name but I'll call them "ornamental cinder blocks"  I've seen them in couple of different patterns. I have seen them used for foundations on many houses in the New England area. This one is simple one, with jist the edges beveled. The actual mortar holding them together is much thinner, but the bevels make the gaps between the blocks look larger.  One of the other ornamental patterns I've seen is one that makes them look like rounded stones.  Each block's face has several round bulges.

Accept no substitutes:

Get out.  The Sundowner beats everything Nathan's...at least before they changed the beef patties.
We have better chili sauce, too. It was the best I've ever had, in fact.

Here you go Josh:

Looks great, Doug! You can deliver the finished model next time you're in town.  We can get ramen at Press Bistro now that Coney Island is closed.

Nathan’s may be Famous, but the Coney Island sign says “Best hot dogs and hamburgers in USA.”  Both founded 1916.

My father-in-law claimed to have worked at Coney Island and that he held the world record for assembling the hot dogs up his arm.  After he ran out of room on his arm, he placed one under his chin. Victory. We still do not know if this is true, but it is definitely family lore.

Yellow Card.

These are not industrial buildings.

Perhaps the Second Quarter Challenge can be modeling a Greasy Spoon.

Heh. I lived in Toledo for 3 years and loved Tony Packo's. MOADs for me!
I'm also a big fan of National Coney Island (up in Michigan). They are also excellant as @Lemosteam can attest. @Hornwrecker, too!

But I didn't like them more than Johnstoen Coney Island. Honestly, when it comes down to places like Packo's, National, Nathan's, and Coney Island, it is just personal preference with maybe some nostalgia peppered in. When I grill, I prefer Nathan's because I believe their dog to be one of the best. Coney Island actually used Berks hot dogs (out of Reading).
It's one of those perfect things where Berks Hot Dogs + Coney Island Chili + their mustard + their onions + their bun + the lady with the arm hair dressing six dogs up her arm (the ones nearest her armpits were usually the most flavorful) made for something special. A shame the up and closed out of the blue. The real star IMO, was actually the Sundowner. It was a chili cheeseburger with mustard, onions, and a fried egg.

I think a Greasy Spoon challenge is a pretty good idea.
Lee- here's your cue to tell us about Pollock Johnny's.
