"The truck driver will be cited." Uh, no kidding. And lose his CDL, too. What a stupid mistake.

In the city I work for, there is a three track crossing that works in sync with a single track branch line crossing because they are about 70 feet apart. I love it when the gates start to go up and the lead car zooms off only to get caught at the next crossing because of the next train coming. I guess people don't realize that when the lights are flashing it's the same as a red light. Even worse is the truck was a hazmat material which means stopping at all railroad crossings regardless of the gate state.

It's amazing that the tank didn't explode.

...I guess people don't realize that when the lights are flashing it's the same as a red light...

I have witnessed Maryland State Police cars go through flashing red lights on my railroad at Route 50 and at Route 301. When the people who are supposed to set the example don't, it's kind of hard to blame the general public. Truck drivers are usually the best about stopping, but even they are fallible (as evidenced by the dump truck I hit with a locomotive last year).

Fake News!
A good editor would have made that "Truck left in path of train" ...

Well, we may have avoided an explosion from the train hitting the propane tanker, but last night ended in flames with this truck having a brake fire.
